Why Pilgrim?
The idea of a pilgrim is well captured by Hebrews 11:13: "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth."
A pilgrim is a traveler focused on reaching a certain destination. At Pilgrim Africa, a
"pilgrim" is one who hopes to reach heaven, not a shrine but a living hope. A pilgrim of this kind seeks those who are hurt, struggling, or oppressed, lest their dreams be lost on the journey.
As pilgrims we hope to follow Jesus truly, to love without hypocrisy, to resist evil and injustice, and to live lightly on the earth.
